| $1.5 Million Gift from Reckson Associates
The Cradle of Aviation Museum Visitor Center was renamed the Reckson Center in honor of the Reckson Associates' gift of $1.5 million.. Shown here with Reckson Associates Chairman Donald Rechler are (left to right): Mark Rechler, Gregg Rechler Tom Kelly (engineering "father" of Lunar Module), Gerald Kessler, Donald Rechler, Mitchell Rechler, and Todd Rechler. Reckson Associates, the region's premier commercial developer, has donated $1.5 million to the Cradle of Aviation Museum for sponsorship of the Museums at Mitchel Visitor Center, which will be called the Reckson Center in honor of this important gift. Featuring a four-story glass walled atrium, the Reckson Center will be the initial point of contact and information for visitors to the Museums at Mitchel Center. The atrium will house a dazzling aerial "Spirit of Discovery" display of Long Island-related flying machines as well as visitor and group services, access to all galleries and the Cradle of Aviation Museum Aerospace Honor Roll. The Center also houses the Leroy R. and Rose W. Grumman IMAX Dome TheaterÆ, the Red Planet Cafe, and the museum store. |
